SocialWork@Simmons is an online Master of Social Work (MSW) program offered by Simmons School of Social Work. The admissions standards for the online MSW are the same as our on-campus program. We seek candidates who are interested in an education in clinical social work, committed to social work values, and possess the academic qualifications and work experience that will lead to success in our rigorous online program.
A completed application must include the following:

The online application can be accessed here. Candidates must complete the entire application in order to be considered for admission to the program.

The nonrefundable application fee is $50. The fee can be paid electronically as part of the online application. Applicants who submit an application before the priority application deadline are charged a reduced fee of $30.
Candidates must show relevant work experience through summer employment, volunteer work during or after college, and/or full-time employment in the human services field. No course credit will be granted for work experience.

The statement should be three to five pages (double spaced) in length.

Many schools also issue transcripts electronically, either through their own web services or through vendors. If this option is available, applicants should specify that their transcript(s) be sent to email@example.com or select Simmons College — SocialWork@Simmons if listed as an option through the vendor. This will expedite the delivery of the transcript(s) and completion of the application.
- Recommendation Forms
Candidates are required to secure three professional or academic letters of recommendation. For those with work or volunteer experience in the human services field, at least one recommendation must come from a direct supervisor. Additional letters may be obtained from senior employees. Candidates who have graduated recently must submit a letter of recommendation from a professor or fieldwork instructor who can speak to the candidate’s readiness for graduate education. Letters from friends, family members, co-workers, personal counselors or therapists, or clergy will not be accepted. Individuals providing recommendations must complete Simmons’s online recommendation form and address the candidate’s commitment to and readiness for graduate clinical social work education. Additional information on recommendations is provided in the online application.
- Test Scores
There is no standardized testing requirement for SocialWork@Simmons. However, students for whom English is not their first language are required to submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score that demonstrates satisfactory proficiency. A minimum score of 600 on the paper test, 250 on the computerized test, or 105 on the Internet-based test is required. Simmons must receive scores directly from ETS (Educational Testing Service). If you have questions about this requirement, contact an Admissions Counselor at 1-855-523-7779.
